There are a total 5 National Parks and 18 Wildlife Sanctuaries in Assam. Kaziranga National Park and Manas National Park are recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in India in the year 1985.

1. Kaziranga National Park:

  • Area ~858.98 Sq. Km
  • Location: Golaghat, Nagaon & Sonitpur
  • Declared as National Park : 1974
  • Recognized as  UNESCO World Heritage Site in India : 1985
  • Declared Tiger Reserve : 2007
  • Animals Found : One horned Rhinoceros, Tiger, Wild Water Buffalo, Wild Boar, Swamp Deer,Gaur,Gibbon,Bengal Florican,Dolphin, Otter.
2. Manas National Park:

  • Area ~500.00 Sq. Km
  • Location: Chirang & Baksa
  • Declared as National Park : 1990
  • Recognized as  UNESCO World Heritage Site in India : 1985
  • Declared Tiger Reserve : 1973
  • Animals Found : Royal Bengal Tiger, Golden Langur, Hispid Hare, Pygmy Hog  Asiatic Wild Buffalo, Asian Elephant, Gaur, Dhole Pigmy hog, Hispid hare, Golden langur, Bengal Florican.
 3. Dibru – Saikhowa National Park:

  • Area ~340.00 Sq. Km
  • Location: Dibrugarh & Tinsukia
  • Declared as National Park : 1999
  • Animals Found :Ferel horses, Asiatic Wild Buffalo, White winged wood duck and Salix swamp.
4.  Nameri National Park:
  • Area -200.00 Sq. Km
  • Location: Sonitpur
  • Declared as National Park : 1998
  • Animals Found : Tiger, 4 species of Hornbill, White Winged Wood duck, Golden Mahaseer.
5. Orang National Park(Rajiv Gandhi Orang National Park)
  • Area -78.91 Sq. Km
  • Location: Darrang & Sonitpur District
  • Declared as National Park : 1999
  • Animals Found :Rhino, Tiger, Maljurias Bengal Florican, Otter.
